Create a space for vulnerable women to live independently.
Residents will start out renting the small homes, however, a portion of their weekly rent is paying off their building so that in 7 to 10 years they own the portable home. As home owners they then have the choice to remain on the property or they are welcome to move their home to another location.
We feel it's important that these residents work as a community to maintain the property, support each other and grow as individuals.
The residents will be single older women who may or may not have children and live alone.
The property as a whole must be designed so that residents feel independent and do not feel as if the other residents are aware of their comings and goings. The property must be garden-filled with casual living garden spaces along with productive vegetable and fruit growing zones.
The residents will share tools and resources as much as possible with a tool shed, appliance closet, extra cooking, preserving and entertaining material available.
The residents will be encouraged to take a reduced consumer approach to life and participate in the Buy Nothing or other community groups.
The central building will be available to residents as a location to share meals with other residents, family and friends. There will be a traditional kitchen and multiple spaces for dining, lounging. There will be smaller spaces for reading and studying. And a laundry space with raised drying racks used for internal clothes drying instead of relying on their own small homes spaces
Suzanne and Ron
We are a couple who work together in our various businesses. Looking to uplift ourselves and others. Interested in learning and exploring ideas, principles and practices different to our own. We've been told we're manifesters but this seems a new concept to us. We delight in the future and choose to learn and reflect on the past. We want to help but not over-power or overwhelm the people we support.
Suzanne: I had worked in the Banking Industry since I was 17 years old and took a redundancy from ANZ Bank in September 2019 after becoming tired of the bureaucracy, illogical decision making, slow approach to change and advancement they were limited to due to legacy systems and thinking. Over the time I worked in the industry I had been involved in branches, operations centres, call centres, credit departments and eventually focusing on Risk. With 5 years spent in credit risk as an analyst I then moved into Operational Risk and Compliance for the last 10 years. I am drawn to data and the use, manipulation (in a true and honest way) and interpretation of that data. Whether that is understanding incidents and events reported internally or leading proof of concept work focused on data analytics techniques such as machine learning for money laundering trigger development or natural language processing models for the use across customer complaints.
Ron: I have done really well out of cryptocurrencies in the last 5 years. I enjoy researching and learning about many topics and then use that knowledge to help others do the same. I help people get access to crypto assets and help them understand it. I'm a person who loves to give back and create businesses with a difference. We consider ourselves advocates for all the businesses we're engaged in and actively support people as they commence Airbnb or eBay second-hand trading or cryptocurrencies. We're invested in other people, continuously. I see it as an honour and a calling to help others and have been doing so for the past decade in Australia, Nepal and Vietnam. My previous partner and I bought land in Nepal for a women's handicraft and training centre (https://localwomenshandicrafts.com/) as well as land and buildings for a remote school in Khanikhola, Nepal (https://www.facebook.com/SuperbCatalystAcademy/). We then drew attention to these groups to enable others to financially support their development.
Women's Investment Group
We've co-created an investment working group for the Dandenong Ranges. It's commenced with a core group of 8 people. We are initially focused on our individual financial positions. Being honest with ourselves and what we understand or don't. As a group we don't have any leaders but instead choose to learn and share together. The contribution we (Ron and Suzanne) will make initially is to discuss and encourage investment in cryptocurrencies based on the success we've had with Celsius Network.
Once the core group has established themselves we will then expand to a broader group of women and also look to add some of our profit into a community trust.
Funding will come primarily from our own assets (Ron and Suzanne). If we can secure funding from other sources then we will review and consider. There is a renewed focus in community housing in the local, state and federal governments. There may be organisations that can partner with us.
After the initial asset purchase the properties must be set-up to be self-sustaining with the ability to maintain and enhance the property. Eventually, we would like to see the number of properties expand and replicate under their own momentum.
We will also partner with similar community groups and experts to ensure we have the broadest knowledge and experience base to draw from.
